SiriCOMM Inc., Joplin, Mo. has jumped into the truckstop Wi-Fi market recently shaken up by the suspension of service at many of Truckstop.net’s Wi-Fi hot spots.

SiriCOMM announced Thursday that it has launched SiriCOMM InTouch, providing wireless broadband Internet access through Wi-Fi hot-spots at Pilot Travel Centers nationwide. Many of Truckstop.net’s hot-spots were also at Pilot locations.
In its press release, SiriCOMM said it offers three InTouch service plans. Each provides unlimited Internet access during the subscription period.
SiriCOMM offers what it calls introductory subscription rates of $5.49 for one day, $29.95 for a month and $149.99 for one year. According to the SiriCOMM web site, one month subscribers can buy a second month’s service for $10.99. The company says its normal yearly plan will cost $299.95. Subscriptions are available through SiriCOMM’s web site at www.siricomm.com.
According to the Truckstop.net web site, its Wi-Fi service remains available at 122 locations, most of them Love’s Travel Stops. Communications provider Sprint suspended Internet service to many of Truckstop.net’s Wi-Fi hot spots on November 23 in a legal dispute.
Last week, Flying J offered a deal to honor outstanding balances on Truckstop.net accounts held by professional drivers.
