If you're an online map fan, you will get a kick out of Map24 at www.map24.com, where you'll find a truly interactive experience.
The site that is run by a German company offers maps and directions for North America and Europe, much like MapQuest, Rand McNally and others. But it goes a step farther in online performance.
Map24 features a Java-based applet that lets you zoom and scroll through a map very quickly. Rather than pushing a button on the side of the screen to move the map in one direction or another, you can “push” the map itself, as if it were printed on paper. Most other online maps allow you to move in four or eight directions; Map24 allows you to move the map in any direction.
Map24 is free to use without registration. Register, and you can open a larger window in which to view and move your map.
Check it out.
