Distribution Technologies Inc., Newbury, Ohio, has announced its sponsorship of Houston-based Cox Racing’s “Vanishing Point” 1965 Dodge Coronet.
DistTech, as the company is known, will sponsor the car on the National Hot Rod Assn. (NHRA) Super Street circuit. DistTech is a dedicated and common carrier of liquid bulk commodities.
“Auto racing is the No. 2 spectator sport in the country, and we’re proud to be associated with Cox Racing and the NHRA,” said Craig Cullinan, vice president of sales & marketing for DistTech. “We’re especially pleased to support a racing team that’s based in the Houston area, where so many of our customers have operations.”
“Our new affiliation with DistTech will enable us to race first-class and be even more competitive,” said Cox Racing Crew Chief Wayne Cox, who is the maintenance supervisor for one of DistTech’s chemical customers in the Houston area. “We’ll be unveiling the car’s new DistTech branding at the AutoRama at Reliant Center in Houston December 3-5.”
Driven by Gary Cox, Vanishing Point will begin racing in the NHRA’s South Central Division in March 2005. Cox Racing expects to enter the car in numerous local and national competitions and points meets, including the 25th Annual Mopar Nationals in Columbus, Ohio Aug. 12-14, 2005.
