Volvo Group will build a really big bus in Brazil as it takes over North American bus builders.

Volvo announced Wednesday that it "will build the world's longest bus." According to Volvo, it's a bi-articulated, 26.8-meter (nearly 88-foot-long) bus with room for 300 passengers. It is, in effect, a more-or-less normal bus pulling doubles.
The bus has been designed for dedicated bus lanes as a cost-effective alternative to the rail.
The bodacious bus will be built by Volvo Buses in Brazil and the first 30 will go into servce in the Sao Paolo region.
Meanwhile, Volvo has gotten into the North American bus biz with a bang. According to a Monday announcement, Volvo Group will take over bus builder Prévost Car Inc., maker of Prévost and Nova buses, as well as school bus maker Blue Bird.
Volvo announced Monday that the takeover is part of a financial restructuring of Henlys Group plc, which operated the bus makers.
“Following the restructuring the intention is to liquidate Henlys,” the release said.
Prévost, based in Sainte-Claire, Que., Canada and and Blue Bird of Fort Valley, Ga., will be wholly owned by Volvo.
