to its target customer market.
The SiriCOMM network currently has 250 Wi-Fi hot spots in 38 states.
In its press release, SiriCOMM said it is continuing to install hot spots nationwide and expects to have an additional 145 sites by yearend 2004, which will give it a national footprint.
By the end of 2005, the company plans to increase the density of its network grid to 750 to 1,000 sites.
SiriCOMM started work in 2000 and has invested more than $5 million creating the network infrastructure and software tools. The company will offer services to the trucking industry, various highway safety and law enforcement agencies. Its business model is subscription-based and potential customers -- trucking fleets, the government sector and individual drivers -- will be offered services for a monthly subscription fee.
The company's services include high speed Internet connectivity and e-mail, SiriCOMM's proprietary productivity applications, and other third-party products and services that require network access for delivery to the user.
