Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc., a subsidiary of CNF Inc., will participate with personnel and equipment in the national Red Ribbon drug abuse prevention campaign
starting the week of Oct. 18.
The company's six U.S. operating units will send thousands of employees into elementary schools across the U.S. to present anti-drug messages and motivate young people to conduct anti-drug lifestyles. The campaign runs from Oct. 18 to 22.
Last year Con-Way employees visited over 1,100 schools as part of its "Adopt-A-School" program for the Red Ribbon initiative in which company employees took the drug-free lifestyle message to almost 700,000 students.
As in previous years, Con-Way employees will distribute red ribbons embossed with the program's message: "I Have A Bright Future In My Hands -- Freedom is Drug Free!" Campaign materials are often delivered to schools in Con-Way tractors and trailers, which serve as an added attraction for many youngsters. The Red Ribbon campaign was established nationally in 1987 by Californians for Drug-Free Youth, Inc.
