Buff's Travel Plaza & Restaurant of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, closed its doors Friday.

The Wednesday edition of The Hawkeye of Burlington, Iowa, reported the 16–year–old truckstop was a victim of a new four–lane highway around Mount Pleasant.
"Basically, the bypass bypassed us," proprietor Nile Buffington told the Hawkeye. Buffington, who opened the restaurant in 1988, said that during the truckstop's heyday, the business employed around 85 full– and part–time workers.
"We were doing pretty good there for a little while," Buffington said.
