Mexico's Economy Minister, Fernando Canales, said he expects Mexican truck drivers will be allowed to enter the U.S.
after the clarification of security requirements by the U.S. authorities, probably within two months.
U.S. authorities would require Mexican freight forwarders operating in the U.S. to meet the same requirements, safety standards and certifications demanded from their U.S. colleagues.
Mexican and U.S. authorities are currently discussing the requirement for Mexican truck drivers operating in the U.S. to speak English. Negotiations between Mexico and the U.S. on free entry of Mexican truck drivers into the U.S. are close, Canales said.
