USF Glen Moore, Carlisle, Pa, has signed an agreement with Instructional Technologies Inc. (ITI), to provide TREAD-1 Driver Training to its fleet of 1,100 drivers.

TREAD-1 is interactive truck-driver training that complies with the Basic Skill curriculum of the federally approved PTDI program. Its 36 courses range from Defensive Driving to Skid Control, from Backing & Docking to Accident Procedures, to HOS and the newly required Entry Level courses.
Last month, ITI began shipping new e-MAC computers, modified to run only TREAD-1, to 12 of Glen Moore’s terminals across America. ITI provides the computers at no charge to its clients. According to Pam Pierson Perrault, vice president of Safety for Glen Moore, all drivers will begin TREAD-1 training within the next month.
She said TREAD-1, "not only has the capability to train all of our diverse fleet with consistent and standardized training, but its sophisticated data management and its ability to track and document that training greatly enhances our management of safety fleet-wide."
USF Glen Moore expects to have every driver take at least 12 lessons per year for ongoing training, and will additionally assign specific lessons to a driver after any incident, whether an accident or a violation. It will also provide TREAD–1 as part of its orientation program, to make certain all drivers are focused on safety.
