Datatrac Corp, Atlanta, Ga., announced it has teamed with ESRI, a leader in the geographic information system
software industry, to offer Datatrac customers added visibility and increased logistics efficiencies.
Datatrac's wireless solutions run on Motorola GPS java-enabled phones, while its Automated Vehicle Location application, called GeoTrac, is built on ESRI's powerful server software. GeoTrac combines Motorola's GPS handset capabilities with ESRI's server software.
Datatrac's handsets send GPS location information over the Nextel wireless data network to ESRI. In the back office, ESRI processes that information, adds dynamic street-level maps, addresses, and points-of-interest and displays locations to dispatchers on a web-based console. Datatrac’s courier and cartage agent customers can clearly see their equipment locations in real time.
