The Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council of the American Trucking Assns. (ATA) is taking a fresh look at traditional safety and human resources topics during its 2004 National Conference & Exhibition,
Sept. 19-22, in Minneapolis, Minn.
The conference theme, "The Business of Safety," reflects an emphasis on practical knowledge and skills. Sessions are aimed at assisting trucking industry safety and human resources professionals plan, improve and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of their practices and programs. Workshops and clinics are shorter, focused and smaller to facilitate peer-to-peer discussion and hands-on learning exercises.
Every 35 to 55 minutes, groups of 25 to 30 will rotate among clinics on business and strategic planning and evaluating and improving your "return on investment." Workshops will be held on the newest hiring tools, motivating employee safety behavior, and OSHA compliance. The Gallup Organization has been invited to speak on what today’s recruits want and need. A mock trial will demonstrate the influence of technology in the courtroom.
Representatives from FMCSA, Virginia Tech’s Transportation Institute and others will be on hand to discuss the newest accident/crash avoidance research and technologies.
