The 15th annual Waupun Truckers Jamboree is scheduled Friday & Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14, with a weekend of events that includes more than 300 trucking trophies
and plaques, parades, a battle of the bands and exhibits.
And while trucks are crammed in every corner of the jamboree grounds, there's still room for bands, food stands, exhibits and beverages offered throughout the weekend.
More than 50 exhibitor's booths, located both inside and outside the Waupun Community Center, offer information, products and career opportunities in the trucking industry. Collectible t-shirts and miniature trucks with the jamboree logo, along with other souvenirs can be purchased.
Competition begins for the "Nights of the Lights Convoy" on Friday night, with all the entries parked at the Waupun Community Center after the parade.
Saturday's competition in the other categories begins at noon, before the parade. Plaques and trophies will be given out in more than 300 classes, including a special trophy for the Truckers' Choice Award.
Awards will be based on the general appearance of each vehicle. Trucks are categorized for judging by the tractor and trailer combination. Some of the categories are broken down further by the age of the truck, with separate awards for different types of pickups and antiques.
Most of the trophies will be on display throughout the festivities, with presentations scheduled at the Waupun Community Center after the Saturday parade.
Other weekend events include an appearance by recording artist Lindsey Ridener; a chicken barbecue; model truck contest; Rides of Pride parade; free live music from such groups as Lonesome Highway and Mid-Life Crisis; a strongman truck pull; the Lights of the Night Convoy; a dance; and a pancake breakfast.
