Preparations are under way for the 7th annual Texas Transportation Summit, scheduled Aug. 10-13 at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Las Colinas in Irving.

The Texas Transportation Summit unites policy makers and industry experts to facilitate communication regarding the transportation issues facing the State of Texas in the 21st Century. Initially created as a regional, half-day event, the summit has emerged into a four-day venue that consistently draws national attention.
This year’s confirmed speakers already include U.S. Sens. John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison, House Majority Leader Tom Delay and Congress members Joe Barton, Chris Bell, Michael Burgess, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee and Randy Neugebauer.
Other special speakers include George Shoener, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Transportation, Jack Hartman, Executive Director of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Joseph Seymour, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York / New Jersey and James Edmonds, Chairman of the Port of Houston Authority.
A primary goal of the event is to address multi-modal issues -- topics pertaining to all modes of transportation. This year’s summit will include topic-specific modal tracks, which allow attendees to hear speakers addressing those issues that affect them most. Example tracks include aviation, freight, highways, maritime, rail and transit, as well as finance and governance issues pertaining to each.
