efleetmgmt, Woodbridge, Va., has teamed with the Maryland Motor Truck Assn. and safety expert Jack Burkertto produce a training package
to guide fleet trainers and supervisors though the required elements of the entry level driver training.
After July 20, 2004, new drivers must be trained before they can legally drive; drivers with less than one year of experience must be trained by Oct. 18, 2004.
The 10-hour program covers mandatory training topics: wellness, fatigue, qualification and the whistle blower provisions in the law. The student handbook, instructor manual, slides, suggested lecture points and discussion points provide information. The program’s PowerPoint slides are adaptable to print or transparency use,
The package is available for $79 in two versions -- bus and truck. The program is available via e-mail, CD-ROM, or a print version for an extra $50.
