Volvo Trucks North America Inc. recently honored Thomas Industries of Greensboro, N.C., with its Crystal Globe award for Thomas’ outstanding work as a supplier to Volvo.
In addition, Kevin Thomas, founder and president of Thomas Industries, received a scholarship from Volvo to attend the Minority-Owned Business Executive program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Stephen Humphrey, Volvo’s supplier diversity manager, presented the scholarship.
Thomas Industries has been a supplier to Volvo since 1987. The company supports Volvo Trucks North America’s marketing efforts by transporting and preparing trucks for high-profile trade shows and special programs across North America. This requires a close working relationship between Thomas Industries and Volvo personnel, as well as with Volvo Trucks dealers and customers.
In September 2003, Volvo was named the 2003 Corporation of the Year by the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC).
Volvo Trucks North America assembles its Volvo VN and VHD trucks in the United States, at the ISO14001 and ISO9001 certified New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Va.
