WalkAbout Computers Inc., West Palm Beach, Fla., has introduced a new line of rugged tablet PCs.

The Hammerhead RT800 and RT933 meet the needs customers who require rugged attributes in a lighter, less expensive package.
Hammerhead RT computers function in extreme temperatures, wet environments and other demanding situations on the road or out in the field.
"Our 7th generation of rugged tablet computers was created to meet the growing demand among mobile workers for a lightweight, highly reliable computer that can be used in indoor and outdoor environments, while still offering a high degree of ruggedness,” said Dave Grainger, CEO WalkAbout Computers.
Both pen tablet and touch screen versions of the Hammerhead RT line are available with a 10.4-inch Transmissive display or WalkAbout’s new All-Vis Indoor/Outdoor Transflective display for both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.
The Hammerhead RT800 features an 800 MHz Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M in a rugged magnesium housing with molded rubber bumpers for extra protection. The tablet comes with 256MB or 512 MB of RAM, a 20GB or 40 GB hard drive and the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system.
The Hammerhead works with older Walkabout docking hardware and has hot-swappable batteries.
The enhanced Hammerhead RT933 includes as 933 MHz Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M, integrated Ethernet networking and wireless options including GPS, CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) and GPRS (Cingular, T-Mobile).
