The National Private Truck Council recently inducted four more drivers into the NPTC - Bridgestone/Firestone Driver Hall of Fame, which honors outstanding drivers who drive for private fleet members.
To be nominated, a driver must have driven 2 million miles or 20 years or 50,000 hours with no preventable accidents. This year’s honorees are:
Dennis Ceshker, Wispak Transport Inc., Milwaukee, Wis. He is an owner-operator contracted to Wispak who has 2.8 million miles and 32 years of safe driving under his belt. Ceshker hauls refrigerated food products to customers in the East. He owns and drives a T-2000 Kenworth.
Ferdinand George, BOC Gases, New Orleans, La. He has been driving since 1960 --45 years on the road and 4 million miles accident-free. He hauls liquid nitrogen for BOC to customers in Louisiana and Mississippi, typically covering 445 miles daily. He drives a company-owned International 9000 series tractor.
Cathy Henry, Lamb-Weston Inc., a division of ConAgra Foods, Columbia Plateau Region, Wash. She is the first woman inductee into the Driver Hall of Fame and has been driving 24 years and 1.6 million accident-free miles, mostly hauling potatoes to processing plants. She drives a four-axle Freightliner tractor pulling a three-axle dump trailer with gross weights approaching 100,000 pounds.
Edgar Mincy, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Newport News, Va. He has 34 years and 3.3 million miles of accident-free driving, much of it in a sleeper team operation delivering general merchandise, health and beauty aids, hazmat materials, furniture and auto parts to store on military installations, to distribution centers in Georgia, Texas or California or two trailer switch points. Much of his driving is pulling doubles.
