Northern Utah becomes the trucking capital of the country Aug. 18-21 with the National Truck Driving Championships and the 15th Annual Great Salt Lake" Kidney Kamp" Truck Show.

The best of trucking will be on display during this time with the some of the finest show trucks and professional drivers from across the country.
The Great Salt Lake "Kidney Kamp" Truck Show benefit was founded in 1989 by Jeff England, president of Pride Transport Inc., and Leonard Freeman, a professional driver whose son suffered from kidney failure. England decided to use his trucking industry experience to assist other families with children suffering from kidney disorders. Over the past 14 years, truck show participants have donated more than $350,000 to this endeavor.
Proceeds have provided the opportunity for thousand of dialysis and transplant patients and their families to attend an annual Kidney Kamp for Kids in Aspen Grove in northern Utah. The Kidney Kamp allows these children and their family members to put hospitals aside for awhile and enjoy simply pleasures like swimming, fishing, hiking, and dancing as well as arts and crafts. Richard Taylor, patient services director for the National Kidney Foundation of Utah, says, "It’s remarkable what the trucking industry does for dialysis patients who need to have their treatments every 48 hours."
