EMS Technologies Inc., Ottawa, Ont., Canada, has acquired a suite of fleet tracking and messaging software from GEOCOMtms Inc.
of Quebec City, Quebec.
EMS provides messaging communications and tracking on the Qualcomm model over high altitude geo-synchronous satellites. GEOCOMtms markets tracking, communications and dynamic routing software under the A.MAZE trade name. The two companies have been business partners for a number of years.
Now EMS has purchased the tracking and communications elements that were formerly part of the A.MAZE offerings and will be marketed under a new trade name yet to be determined. GEOCOMtms will retain the A.MAZE label for its dynamic routing and other products.
According to EMS, the software it has obtained provides seamless access to different wireless data networks in the same application, simultaneously. It communicates with trucks on the road through EMS's PDT-100 packet data terminal mounted on a user’s truck. Drivers can access free-form messaging, macros, data-entry forms and turn-by-turn directions to the next stop.
