Jevic Transportation Inc., a subsidiary of SCS Transportation, has been certified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a partner in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and FAST programs.

"We are proud to be one of a select group of carriers that are C-TPAT and FAST approved," said Paul J. Karvois, president and CEO of the New Jersey-based carrier. "This certification confirms that our security processes and practices meet the exacting standards of C-TPAT. It is important to us and to our customers that we enhance supply chain security without detracting from service performance."
Approval in C-TPAT enables Jevic's participation in the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) lane program, a joint effort between the U.S. and Canada designed to move C-TPAT approved shipments securely and quickly from Canada into the U.S.
The FAST program was developed as a way for U.S. Customs to offer expedited clearance of shipments to carriers and U.S. importers who are C-TPAT approved. A designated traffic lane at the U.S/Canada border is developed to reduce inspection and clearance times and help with more efficient shipment processing. In order to qualify for FAST lane processing, every shipment on the trailer needs to be destined for a C-TPAT approved importer. The carrier, the driver and the importer are all required to be C-TPAT approved.
