SkyBitz Inc., Dulles, Va., announced that Roberson Transportation is using SkyBitz trailer tracking.

Roberson Transportation, based in Mahomet, Ill., installed SkyBitz’s mobile terminals across its CX Truckload Van Division. The company has several divisions that include dry van, specialized equipment and contract carriage.
The Roberson fleet brings the total of SkyBitz-equipped fleets to more than 50.
“During our search, we explored different types of trailer tracking, and it was SkyBitz’s GLS (Global Locating System) platform that could deliver what we need today,” said Matt Welding, executive vice president of Roberson Transportation.
GLS, unique to SkyBitz, differs from GPS (Global Position System), which computes its location on board, then transmits that location. GLS, on the other hand, is computed at the receiving end, meaning that less power is consumed by the onboard unit. SkyBitz trailer tracking units run on standard packs of AA-sized batteries.
