Qualcomm Inc., based in San Diego, has introduced new software elements for users of its OmniTracs and OmniExpress mobile communications systems and Fleet Advisor management solution.

At the same time, the company announced the launch of the Qualcomm Professional Services team to provide fleet customers with application installation, systems integration, testing, phased implementation training and complete project management.
"The team will specialize in providing advanced mobile and IT service offerings that help customers achieve superior productivity and operational savings in their organization," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions.
The new software offerings include:
-- Qualcomm’s Activity Base Pay solution enables carriers using Qualcomm’s Fleet Advisor to reward drivers based on achieving objectives related to idling, overspeeds and over-revs. This payroll module includes automated driver reimbursements for approved cash-based transactions.
-- Qualcomm’s Management Advisor for Fleet Advisor customers accurately retains, tracks and reports on customer-defined performance factors such as asset utilization and measures financial returns in real dollars.
-- Qualcomm’s Message Abbreviator enables OmniTracs and OmniExpress users to create abbreviated words and terms for outbound messages, reducing character counts and reducing overall messaging costs.
-- Qualcomm Stop Management system is an exception management tool for OmniTRACS users that identifies start-of-trip and end-of-trip events and reports planned and unplanned stops.
