Two professional truck drivers for Con-Way Central Express (CCX) have received top honors from the Michigan Trucking Assn (MTA).

Ron Looks, who works out of the company's Cadillac, Mich. service center, was named the association's 2004 Driver of the Year. Judging criteria for the award included a driver's safety record, industry participation and community involvement.
A 23-year trucking veteran, Looks has driven more than 1.3 million miles for CCX without an accident. He has also been a regular competitor in the
Michigan State Truck Driving Championships, placing first in the straight truck category, which qualified him to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships in Tampa, Fla.
Mark Cotter, who works out of the CCX service center in Lansing, Mich., was appointed to the MTA's Michigan Road Team. He will serve a one-year term and participate in public education and media events to promote highway safety.
Cotter has 27 years of professional driving experience and has driven more than 800,000 accident-free miles. He has also served several years as a member of the MTA Road Safety Team. A regular competitor in the Michigan State Truck Driving Championships, Cotter placed first in the three-axle category that qualified him to participate in the national competition.
"Ron and Mark deserve these honors. Their driving skills, safety performance and personal commitments to the trucking industry and their communities define the term trucking professional. The entire CCX organization is very proud of them," said David S. McClimon, president and chief executive officer of CCX.
