Melton Truck Lines, Tulsa, Okla., has received the Oklahoma Trucking Assn.’s first-place award for highway safety during an awards banquet held last month in Oklahoma City.

Melton's first-place win was for irregular route fleets with up to 5 million miles driven in Oklahoma. The judging was based on miles driven and number of DOT recordable accidents. Melton’s winning accident-frequency rate was 0.55 per million miles.
Pat White, vice president of safety, loss prevention and human resources, and Rick Vincent, director of safety, represented Melton Truck Lines at the OTA ceremony. White said, "This is a tremendous accomplishment. This award is a tribute to everyone at Melton, including drivers, office and shop employees."
In 2002, Melton placed third in the flatbed irregular route division with a 0.62 accident frequency rate. White credits Melton’s success to the company’s dedication to hiring professional drivers and its commitment to operating safely.
Melton is an air-ride flatbed carrier serving the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Melton terminal locations include Tulsa, Okla.; Laredo, Texas; and El Paso, Texas.
