Optum Inc., White Plains, N.Y., has introduced the latest version of WebShip, a web-enabled solution for shipper of small packages.
WebShip manages all aspects of the shipping process for small parcel and LTL carriers. The application optimizes shipping through rate shopping, an automated manifesting process and easy track and trace capabilities.
WebShip supports major small package and LTL carriers, including FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express, DHL, Yellow and the United States Postal Service. It can be deployed as a stand-alone manifesting solution or integrated with a company's existing fulfillment system.
As orders are picked and packed in the distribution center, WebShip reads the package weight, selects a carrier, generates a tracking number, calculates freight cost and prints carrier documents, all without user intervention. WebShip continuously adjusts load consolidation for higher weight breaks, maximizing shipping efficiency.
