Iowa 80 Truckstop is hosting one of only two Colgate Country Showdown competitions to be held in the state of Iowa.

The Colgate Country Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers.
Iowa 80 will host the event on Day 2 of its 25th Anniversary Walcott Truckers Jamboree, July 9th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Twelve contestants will compete for a chance to advance to the state competition. Admission and parking at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree are free.
The Colgate Country Showdown begins each spring with local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the U.S. Winners advance to their respective state competitions held at leading fairs and expositions. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the state title and the opportunity to advance to one of six regional finals.
It’s the last step before the prestigious national final, which is televised to a national audience from country music’s most exciting venues, like the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House, the Grand Palace Theatre in Branson, the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Epcot Center at Walt Disney World, and Universal Studio Florida. Regional winners compete for the grand prize of $100,000 and the national title. A uniform judging system is used at all levels of competition to ensure fairness.
Past showdown contestants include country music stars Martina McBride, John Michael Montgomery, LeAnn Rimes, Neal McCoy and Sara Evans.
The Walcott Truckers Jamboree features events for the entire family. There is the Iowa Pork Chop cook-out, kids games, more than 170 exhibits, an antique truck display, live entertainment, a Super Truck Beauty Contest, Trucker Olympics, Trucker's Best Friend Pet Contest and more.
