Donaldson Co. Inc., Minneapolis, is providing 1,100 EPA-approved emissions control devices for the New York State Clean Air School Bus Program,
sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
Donaldson will work with 41 New York school districts to retrofit their buses with Donaldson Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) mufflers and Spiracle crankcase filter emission control devices.
The New York State Clean Air School Bus Program awarded $5 million to 74 school districts for retrofitting school buses to reduce emissions.
Retrofits will reduce emissions of particulate matter, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and toxic air pollutants. Donaldson's DOC muffler/Spiracle retrofit package offers a cost-effective alternative to reducing emissions compared to purchasing new school buses.
