ALK Technologies Inc., Princeton, N.J., has released version 17.1 of PC*MILER software as well as DTOD 17.1, the mileage compliant version that meets Defense Table of Official Distances requirements.

"Since 1998, ALK's PC*MILER data and software have been the worldwide distance standard for the Defense Table of Official Distances used by the U.S. Department of Defense and the General Services Administration. ALK is the official developer of DTOD 17.1, the government version of PC*MILER that is used by the U.S. military worldwide," said Mark Hornung, senior VP and COO.
PC*MILER 17.1 includes 310,000 accessible locations, 772,500 six-digit Canadian Postal Codes, 112,500 Standard Point Location Codes, 6,300 truckstops, 42,501 year-2003 five-digit US ZIP Codes, 775 CAT Weigh Scale Stations, county name designation for every location and all 13-foot, 6-inch height restrictions in the U.S. and Canadian highway network
At the same time ALK announced that PC*MILER is now available to run directly on Linux and Unix operating systems.
"Our customers have expressed an interest in a Linux version of PC*MILER for some time," said Kara Jo Witkowski, product manager, PC*MILER Solutions. "While they could use a TCP/IP module to run a Windows-based version of the software on a Linux platform, they wanted a version they could install directly on the open architecture platform. We are very excited to be moving forward with this innovative technology and to meet the demands of our user base."
