SiriCOMM Inc., Joplin, Mo., an applications service provider and wireless network operator serving the highway transportation industry, said its demonstration of InstaCheck
in the Mack Trucks Inc. booth at the International Truck Show in Las Vegas last summer was a success.
The demonstration showcased the ability of InstaCheck to wirelessly transmit vehicle data across the SiriCOMM network.
An InstaCheck device was installed under the dash of a 2003 Mack Vision Day Cab operating in Joplin. Real-time vehicle data was then transmitted across the SiriCOMM network to the company's server. The data was retrieved and shown in Mack's booth on a laptop computer connected to the Internet using a 56K dial-up connection.
"It is our job to keep Mack on the forefront of technology developments," said Tom Kelly, Mack vice president of marketing. "The SiriCOMM and InstaCheck solution is exciting to us as we work to build a strong position in the highway transportation and highway information industry. Fleet management advances such as this one will provide Mack customers yet another tool to help them streamline their operations."
