Schneider Logistics’ supply chain engineering team has developed an automated process to quantify the impact of changing hours of service rules on driver productivity and capacity.

Usually -- within 24 hours -- logistics engineers can analyze a carrier’s past logbooks and provide them with a detailed impact report, including charts illustrating how the new rules might affect driver productivity and capacity.
The company says the process, when applied to Schneider National and other carrier logbooks, has revealed dramatic decreases in driver productivity, which means more drivers will be needed to haul the same loads.
By quantifying the effects of the new rules, carriers are better able to work with customers and to adjust driver hiring plans.
The service is now available to all over-the-road carriers.
