Manhattan Associates Inc., Atlanta, Ga., announced that Henkel Consumer Adhesives Inc. has chosen Manhattan Associates to develop a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system for delivering products to HCA's retail customers
-- particularly Wal-Mart, which has demanded its suppliers must offer such systems by 2005.
HCA markets Duck brand products, including Duck Tape.
"The clock is ticking, and Manhattan Associates is the partner that will help us to address the demands of compliance with our retail customers," said Gene E. Obrock, vice president operations at Henkel Consumer Adhesives.
Manhattan Associates offers a range of logistics IT products and last year bought the assets of Logistics.com, which included commercial trucking solutions for routing, optimization and profit analysis.
"Wal-Mart's RFID compliance announcement was a watershed event for the supply chain industry," said Eric Peters, senior vice president, products and strategy at Manhattan Associates. "Those companies that want to maintain their leadership position must begin their RFID initiatives now.”
