Interstate Brands Corp. (IBC), among the largest national wholesale bakers in the United States, recently purchased 309 Freightliner walk-in van chassis.

The vehicles will deliver the company's name brand baked goods. IBC, headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., owns major bakery brands including Wonder, Merita, Butternut, Hostess and Dolly Madison.
"This is our largest purchase of delivery trucks in three years," said Steve Long, director of general procurement IBC. "Freightliner's ability to customize their chassis to meet our exact requirements allowed us to add upgrades to all of our new trucks," said Long.
The MT-35 chassis is designed with tough, long-life truck components, but is in the light-duty class with a GVW (gross vehicle weight) rating of 10,000 pounds, ideal for the bakery and snack-food industry. The MT-45 SR is a medium-duty chassis with GVW ratings from 14,140 to 19,000 pounds.
Also available from Freightliner Custom Chassis (FCCC) is the MT-55, with a GVW rating of up to 30,000 pounds. FCCC's lineup of custom diesel walk-in van chassis allows for a wide range of applications, from bakery delivery to parcel or newspaper delivery.
