ALK Technologies Inc., Princeton, N.J., has been awarded a contract to operate, maintain and supply point-to-point routing of the National Hazardous Materials Route Registry
PC*Miler Chosen for National Hazardous Materials Route Registry
for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
ALK’s PC*MILER/HazMat will serve as the routing and mapping engine for this web-based service sponsored by the FMCSA. The registry is the official repository of state and Indian tribe hazardous material routing designations pursuant to federal statute.
PC*MILER/HazMat provides point-to-point highway routing, mileage and mapping software with nationwide hazmat-compliant mileages and driving directions. It enables motor carriers, shippers and logistics companies to determine routes and mileages for hauling hazardous materials while ensuring compliance with government regulations. Routes can be generated for general, explosive, inhalant and radioactive hazardous materials.
The U.S. Department of Defense and General Services Administration also use PC*MILER as their worldwide distance standard.
