Ryder System Inc., a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, was named to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Environmental Performance Track (NEPT) program.
EPA Administrator Christie Whitman formally recognized Ryder at an NEPT event held recently in Washington, D.C.
The NEPT program recognizes and encourages proactive environmental stewardship for companies that voluntarily go beyond compliance with environmental regulations and commit to continuous environmental improvement.
Since its inception in 2000, the program has named a total of 304 members.
Ryder is among a select group of only 40 multi-facility organization members.
Commenting on the importance of this accomplishment, Ryder Chairman, President and CEO Gregory T. Swienton said, "Acceptance into the EPA's Performance Track program is high praise for Ryder's effectiveness in safeguarding our environment. We intend to use this leadership role to provide more value to our customers, while also encouraging other corporations to commit the time and resources necessary to meet the high standards set by the EPA."
The National Environmental Performance Track recognizes and rewards member for their commitment to sound environmental management, continuous environmental improvement, local community involvement and a strong record of compliance. Represented among NEPT members are small and large companies from the manufacturing, chemical and automotive industries, among others.
