An avalanche has again closed the Trans-Canada Highway east of Revelstoke in south central British Columbia and the major east-west route could remain closed for several days.

The second avalanche occurred Tuesday morning and buried two commercial trucks, damaging the semitrailers. The drivers were unhurt, according to the Associated Press.
The British Columbia Highway Ministry said the road might be open to some traffic soon.
Avalanche crews will check for trouble spots before the highway will be reopened, officials said.
Detours were required to get around the slide as avalanche crews inspected the area. Motorists were diverted to Highway 3 through Fernie and Crowsnest Pass to the south or Highway 16, the northern Yellowhead Highway, through Jasper, Alberta.
