For a second consecutive year, Frito-Lay North America has awarded all four of the Con-Way Transportation Services Inc. regional less-than-truckload freight carriers their "LTL Carrier of the Year" award.

Carriers were evaluated on service, ease of doing business, innovation and feedback from Frito-Lay field personnel.
At ceremonies held in Plano, Texas, Chris Powell, Frito-Lay logistics manager, presented the award to David L. Miller, president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Southern Express, who accepted it on behalf of Con-Way Central Express, Con-Way Southern Express, Con-Way Western Express and Con-Way Canada Express.
"Con-Way's on-time performance, professionalism and coverage are of significant business value to Frito-Lay. A well-run supply chain is a competitive advantage and the Con-Way carriers make a significant contribution to that end," said Powell.
Con-Way's LTL carriers handled more than 82,000 shipments for Frito-Lay in 2002 and had an on-time performance record of 97.8%.
They currently service 1,000 Frito-Lay distribution points, 40 manufacturing plants and 250 Frito-Lay suppliers throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada.
Con-Way has been Frito-Lay's exclusive LTL carrier since 2000.
