Qualcomm Inc. has announced that Transport Industries, a supply-chain transportation systems provider,
has added Qualcomm's satellite-based mobile communications Solutions to its fleet management system.
Transport Industries has signed a contract with Qualcomm to install more than 1,400 OmniTRACS mobile communications system units over the next three months.
"For the last 14 years, Qualcomm has delivered powerful fleet tracking and management products and services to transportation carriers," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president and general manager of transportation and logistics for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. "Transport Industries has extremely high service standards that are exceeded by the solutions Qualcomm delivers, and we are pleased that they have selected Qualcomm's solutions for the long run."
John Anderson, president of Transport Industries, said, "The Qualcomm OmniTRACS system will give us the ability to quickly respond to our customers' needs through better communications with our drivers. We will also be able to feed truck location data directly into our systems, making our fleet better utilized and more efficient."
The OmniTRACS system features include real-time data communications, automatic vehicle tracking and seamless, nationwide coverage. In addition, Transport Industries can integrate OmniTRACS data throughout its back-office systems, such as dispatch, payroll and accounting.
