Aether Systems Inc. a leading provider of wireless and mobile data solutions, has announced that Contract Freighters Inc. (CFI) has agreed to equip its entire fleet of 2,400 trucks with Aether MobileMax.

Based in Joplin, Mo., CFI is a North American carrier that began using wireless tracking and mobile communications nearly 10 years ago and features a state-of-the-art operations center widely regarded as a model for the industry.
CFI plans to complete the conversion to Aether's leading fleet tracking and messaging solution by December 2003, according to Glenn Brown, chairman and CEO.
CFI's plans with MobileMax also include the implementation of ADV Monitor, Aether's leading application that provides real-time information on vehicle and driver performance, state-line crossings and vehicle fault codes. In addition, CFI will implement Aether's new Proximity Alert feature to automatically notify them of critical arrival and departure information. Aether and CFI will begin working immediately to integrate the MobileMax solution into CFI's expansive information system.
Aether MobileMax uses a multi-mode system that automatically switches between land-based and satellite communications without driver or dispatcher intervention to ensure complete coverage and more cost-efficient communications.
