General Motors Corp. is cutting back hours for about 500 assembly line workers who build medium-duty commercial trucks at assembly plant in Flint, Mich.

The company said it needs to bring its inventories in line with market demand.
GM will shut the medium-duty truck line about one week a month through September, in addition to the standard two-week shutdown over the summer.
The Flint Journal said the 500 affected workers will get company-funded supplemental unemployment benefits during the layoffs, replacing up to 95% of their earnings.
GM moved its medium-duty commercial truck line to Flint from Janesville, Wis., last year.
