XATA Corp., provider of mobile information solutions to the transportation industry, has announced the purchase of its new satellite capabilities by Pilot Travel Centers, LLC.

Pilot, among the nation's largest interstate travel center operations, currently operates XATA's OpCenter fleet management solution at more than 60 distribution centers throughout 40 states. OpCenter is XATA's client-server solution featuring comprehensive fleet applications.
"The XATA system has helped our fleet provide fast, effective and safe service since 1996," said David Breeding, senior transportation manager at Pilot. "The new satellite offering increases its value by providing us with complete visibility and communication with our entire fleet across 40 states, further enhancing security and productivity."
The new satellite offering will complement other wireless communications while adding power to the applications Pilot already has in use, including OpCenter's SmartCom and Position Plus-GPS capabilities. Additional products and capabilities within OpCenter are: DOT driver logs, fuel tax reporting, automated state line crossings, route planning and analysis, Learned Standards, Smart Messaging, Smart Check, Yard Express, and more.
Pilot will begin implementation of the new satellite capabilities in January, 2003.
