The SAE 2002 International Truck & Bus Meeting & Exhibition, hosted by Ford Motor Co, opens Monday at Cobo Center in Detroit.

This year's theme, "Driving to Serve Society: Transportation Solutions for Today and Tomorrow," will take a broad look at the commercial transportation industry, covering manufacturing, technology and end-user transportation services issues.
The conference features a host of prominent speakers, seminar sessions and innovative product displays.
New this year are two Special Issues Forums covering the topics of Environmental Stewardship and Intelligent Mobile Asset Management. These panels will engage industry leaders, government and media on the relevant topic.
The conference features an expanded exhibit, with about 100 OEMs and Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers displaying technologies and products. Vehicles from General Motors, Volvo, Peterbilt, International Truck and Engine Corp. and Ford will also be on display on the exhibit floor.
This year's banquet, sponsored by Robert Bosch Corp., features a keynote address by Nick Scheele, COO and president of Ford Motor Co. The banquet begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
