FedEx Corp. has announced rate changes for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground effective Jan. 6, 2003.

FedEx Express will increase list rates an average of 3.5% for shipments within the U.S. and for U.S. export shipments. The FedEx Express price changes also include an increase in the delivery area surcharge to $1.75 from $1.50 and an increase in the Saturday pickup and delivery surcharges to $12.50 from $10.
FedEx Ground will increase rates an average of 3.9%.
The 2003 FedEx Express list rates will be available to customers on beginning Dec. 7. FedEx Ground list rates will be available at the same web site beginning Dec. 14.
Other features of the 2003 FedEx Express rate change include:
-- Applying dimensional weight pricing to international shipments in customer packaging at or below one cubic foot, except for shipments between the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
-- Relaunching U.S.-to-Puerto Rico FedEx International Priority Freight service with a one-day service commitment. The current IPF service, with a three-day commitment, will be offered as FedEx International Economy Freight.
-- Rates for FedEx Express services between the U.S. and Puerto Rico are increasing an average of 5%.
