The Bridgestone Corp.'s Bridgestone/Firestone North American tire unit in Nashville, Tenn. said it plans to raise prices as much as 5% for car and truck tires
beginning the first of the year because of raw material costs.
The increases include car and light truck tires under the Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton, Associate and Private brands, the company told Bloomberg News.
Prices of Bridgestone, Firestone and Dayton tires for heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks will rise 3% to 4%.
The action by Bridgestone, which is the third-largest tire maker in the nation, comes after similar increases by Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Michelin's North America unit and the Cooper Tire and Rubber Co.
