Volvo Trucks North America Inc., has announced that Tyson Foods Inc. has ordered a total of 227 new Volvo VNL670 highway tractors.

The Tyson order is for the latest generation of VN trucks, introduced in August. The new VN design fully integrates with diesel engines conforming to stringent new U.S. emission standards.
Delivery of the VN tractors begins this year, with 168 scheduled in the fourth quarter. The remainder will be delivered in early 2003. The trucks will be equipped with Cummins ISX engines.
Tyson Foods, Springdale, Ariz., had sales of $25 billion last year.
"We are proud to have Tyson Foods as a new customer of Volvo," said Scott Kress, Volvo senior vice president of sales. "Just as Tyson has earned its reputation as an innovator and leader in its markets, we fully expect the new VN to earn the same level of recognition for quality and performance among fleet managers and professional drivers."
