Road Ranger Enterprise is about four weeks away from opening a 52,000-square-foot truck plaza in South Beloit, Ill., one of the largest facilities in its 30-store chain.

Construction workers broke ground on June 6 at Illinois 75 and Willowbrook Road and have been working six days a week to open the business by mid-October.
In addition to an 18-pump island for semitrailers and a 12-pump island for cars, the convenience center will include a family-style restaurant, showers and a game room. The back half of the facility will include three fast-food restaurants: Smash Hit Subs, Cinnamon Street and Hot Stuff Pizza. McDonald's will open a stand-alone restaurant in the spring in the rear of the 18-acre site.
Road Ranger, a Rockford-based operation, has 30 gasoline-convenience store centers in Illinois and Wisconsin. Of the 30, about 10 are truck plazas.
