R.L. Polk & Co., Southfield, Mich., announced a licensing agreement with Donnelley Marketing that will help it enhance its trucking fleet and vocational data.

Polk has entered into a licensing agreement with Donnelley Marketing for the supply of the Donnelley business file. Under the terms of the agreement, Donnelley will provide Polk North America with its business file, which contains information on approximately 12.8 million businesses nationwide. Polk will receive data elements that include business names and addresses, contact names, phone numbers, numbers of employees, sales volume, SIC code, and NAICS code.
Polk will use Donnelley's business data to enhance its census 2000 fleet coding and TIP (Trucking Industry Profile) fleet and vocational coding. In addition, Polk will have the ability to sell and distribute the business information within the commercial truck industry.
"Our agreement with Donnelley Marketing will enable us to enhance a number of data elements, such as vocational code, contained in the TIP database," said Mike Gingell, vice president of Polk North America's truck and aftermarket teams.
"In addition, this relationship gives us the ability to offer business data and business lists to the commercial truck industry. By combining business information with unrestricted commercial vehicle registration data, we will possess the ability to create a very unique and comprehensive fleet profile. This combination of data will increase the value of the products and services that we offer in the commercial truck market."
