The Carroll Fulmer family is buying back its trucking company namesake from the Transit Group of Atlanta to form Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corp.

The purchase deal was for a reported $17.2 million.
Located in Groveland, Fla., the company is to be managed by Fulmer family members, including original owners Carroll and Barbara Fulmer, who have come out of retirement to provide leadership and supervision for the new corporation.
"We are an old company with new ideas and a new attitude," said Carroll Fulmer, president of Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corp. "We are proud to have the enthusiasm of a new company, with the same family foundation, strong support staff and drivers that will make us a competitive force in the industry."
The Fulmer family built Carroll Fulmer & Co. from modest beginnings to a $70 million a year trucking entity before selling the company to the Transit Group in 1997. Now recognized as the Caroll Fulmer Logistics Corporation, the company will be managed by Fulmer children: Cynthia Turner of Athens, Ala., Philip Fulmer of Groveland, Tony Fulmer and Timothy Fulmer of Clermont, Fla.
