A coalition of companies has put together a web site, www.plug-into-shorepower.com, to educate and collect information on truckstop electrification.

The web site is asking truckers to participate in a survey about whether truckstops should offer electrical power hookups like RV parks do. The results will be forwarded to truckstops to give them feedback on this technology.
Shore power means AC power; you can pull up, plug in, and cook dinner, watch TV, work on a computer and relax in comfort without idling. But shorepower is largely unavailable at truckstops, thanks to a perceived lack of demand among their customers.
In addition to the survey, the web site has information on idling costs and articles about truckstop electrification.
The site is a service of Delco Remy, Dometic, Phillips & Temro, and Xantrex Technology Inc.
