Velant Inc. announced a transportation planning agreement with LifeGas, a medical gas supplier.

Under the agreement, Atlanta-based Velant will provide daily dynamically optimized route plans for LifeGas’ private truck fleet. Velant will roll out its Transportation Management Center (TMC) solution to LifeGas’ 14 national branch locations over the coming months.
“As LifeGas continues to expand its operations, it is outgrowing its manual planning processes,” said Velant president and CEO Don Ratliff. LifeGas President Mike Walsh said, “With transportation costs representing the largest portion of our operating expenses, LifeGas needed a more effective transportation planning solution. In searching for a new approach, we found that most companies are frustrated by the limitations of manual planning, as we have been, but have found packaged software too difficult to use in the field. Velant’s TMC solution offers both more powerful technology to optimize our daily route plans, and a managed service approach that leverages Velant’s in-house logistics experts to implement and continually improve our transportation plans.”
