Meridian IQ, Overland Park, Kan., Yellow Corporation’s web-enabled logistics subsidiary, has acquired selected assets of Clicklogistics Inc.
, another web-based logistics services provider based in Boston.
It is the second acquisition announced by Meridian IQ in a week. Days earlier Meridian IQ announced it would take over MegaSys Inc. of Greenwood, Ind. MegaSys was founded in 1989 as a third party logistics provider primarily in the automotive, chemical, manufacturing and utility industries. The company added some electronic capabilities in recent years.
By contrast, Clicklogistics started up in 1997 and launched its full-blown logistics services web site last year. Clicklogistics competed more directly with Meridian IQ and with Transportation.com, the Yellow subsidiary that preceded Meridian IQ, which opened for business early this year.
According to its announcement, Meridian IQ will acquire certain material assets of Clicklogistics, including customer contracts and key employees within the sales, operations and professional services group. Meridian IQ says it will integrate Clicklogistics customers before the end of 2002.
All capabilities will be marketed under the Meridian IQ brand and will be headquartered in Overland Park.
